Gladys woke me this morning with that sausage and bacon – she even made gravy today. On top of those delicious biscuits, knew I was in heaven or at least my heaven. Luckily she makes plenty of food so they don’t notice my indulging, especially since they can’t see me. In case you didn’t know, I left this world in 1977, but couldn’t stand to be away from the castle – a place I starting building in the fifties at my favorite place, Ocracoke Island, NC. So, I returned here instead of going through the pearly gates. My spirit roams throughout this wonderful island and stays at the Castle each night. I sometimes I spend all day here, but I love getting into town and seeing all the happenings. It is so much easier now no one can see me. I was always a social fellow, but really enjoy the aluftness. I hear great music, eat well, go to the beach, out into the sound. Now I do miss hunting and fishing. Think it is best to leave those things to the younger fellows. And I will say there is some fine fishing on this island. That new fish house in the village is jumping. Couldn’t get any fresher. Enjoy going down to the docks and seeing what the charters are bringing in. The blues have been running. Some nice tile fish, mackerels, tuna – you name it they are catching it.
Shrimp is just coming into season – some mighty fine eating on this spit of sand. Think I’ll go see what’s cooking.
