The Spirit of Sam Jones

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sam Jones. Although it was not my choice, my body left this world in 1977. I’ve been spiriting around the globe visiting places I didn’t have the chance to go to in my lifetime, but I just couldn’t stand to be away from Ocracoke and the Castle on Silver Lake any longer.

You see, I always loved this special Island of Ocracoke even back in the 1930’s when I first came to visit. That was long before many of you, who are reading this, were born. I knew right from the start I wanted to share this special place with others and I did, by inviting whoever I knew back then to come on down and be my guest. The only problem was where would my guests stay? I would just have to build something! Simple, huh?
Not so, at that time. To make a very long story short that is why I decided to build this fine old house here on the harbor. The view was mighty different back then, but just as pleasing to the eyes. When my friends came to visit I made sure that that they were comfy and got the chance to enjoy Ocracoke as much as I did. I wanted a place where my family, friends, islanders and of course my horse, Ikey D could take part in the festivities I planned. And what a good time was had by all!

Right now it is September, a favorite time of year and as I can tell, the Castle is still delightfully busy. The Castle rooms are filled with guests and the Villas, built since I owned this establishment are just as occupied. It’s so great to hear the laughter coming from the kitchen in the Bed and Breakfast with all these folks relaxing and enjoying themselves. I can smell the coffee brewing, as well as the aroma of bacon and sausage, French toast and the like. It is quite a fantastic way to wake up in the morning. Don’t you think?

While on my travels, I heard about this blogging thing people are doing, and wanted to take a shot at it on my own. Well, whoops, I forgot I only knew how to type the old fashioned way and I can’t even do that anymore. What I needed was a friend I could get to help me out. It seems I can choose one person to communicate with and even though I can’t tell you who that is; we are all ready to set this in motion. I hope you all will enjoy my return to the Castle. I’ll try not to make too much noise.

Right now I think I want to take a scud around town and see what’s happening.
