Black Friday” or a warm balmy day….take your pick
Seems like the day after T’day is called “Black Friday” and stores have large sales and throughout the US. Shopping malls are jammed, people fighting over stuff, and traffic jams galore. Well here on Ocracoke it was a beautiful morning – balmy is the word that comes to mind. Started off in the 60’s and got up to 70, I think. There were sales and folks out shopping – but no traffic jams, no fighting for parking places or merchandise. Instead Ocracoke is full of fun little shops, run by locals, who are friendly and happy to see folks out and about. I even check out a few yard sales. I do enjoy a good yard sale! One had an old piece of furniture from the Castle. One of my old favorites, a beautiful hat and umbrella rack that is six feet high and about four feet wide. I loved hanging my hats on it after coming in for the evening. Seems like there was a sale many years ago at the Castle of some of my furniture. Just hope someone buys this hat rack that enjoys it as much as I did. If not, maybe it will find its way back to the Castle. Even if I don’t have hats to hang, I still can admire it.
Again it’s good to settle down for the night at the Castle, after a fun day of cruising around Ocracoke.
