Spirit of Sam Jones
Ahhh…the smells of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day on the island was really fun. Lots of folks around and the weather was great. Warm but a nice breeze. Crisp and crystal clear. Folks were out walking, biking, working up an appetite, I guess. The Variety store was hopping – good thing they were open for part of the day, as there were many folks buying. Fun to see all the action on such a small island.
Then the best – the island was full of wonderful smells. As usual, folks all around were cooking, eating, laughing and having a large time. The smells of turkey, cornbread dressing (one of my favorites), collards, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pies….. almost too much for this old spirit – but I rose to the occasion and observed each and everyone having a mighty fine time!
Once again, this island likes to eat and have fun. Two of the many reasons I love being here. Went back to the Castle in the evening and enjoyed watching the harbor lights.
