Cookie Swap – Sweet Time for all
Today I went by the cookie swap at the library. What a good time! This has been an annual event for many years. The deal is you bake cookies, bring them and swap the number of cookies you bring, with the same number that you take. What fun. I have never seen so many kinds of cookies. One of my favorites was a cookie that looked like a cute mouse. It was a chocolate covered cherry as the body, a chocolate kiss as the face with almond slivers as ears. Where do folks get these ideas? Anyway I got to enjoy many great smells. Also the fifth grade read a wonderful story about Hanukkah and then the youngsters from one of the churches played musical instruments. It was so nice to hear.
Some local women made three gingerbread houses and the children all got to drop their names in the hat for a raffle. Three lucky children got to go home with a beautiful ginger bread house. How much fun is that? They even had a kid’s cookie table to make sure all the young ones got some of the extra special cookies!
Once again, it warmed my heart to see this wonderful community together enjoying each other. And returning to the Castle, what was I met with? The smell, again, of some fresh baked cookies and fresh brewed coffee. I still love this time of year. Come and enjoy it also!
