Foot Tapping Music on Ocracoke Island

Went by a concert at the Deep Water Theater the other evening. A few concerts are scheduled throughout the winter as fund raisers for the Ocrafolk Festival that occurs each summer. A group called “Ronstadt Generations” performed and they were great! I remember hearing of Linda Ronstadt in my very late years and this was her brother Michael, his two sons and a friend. She might have gotten the break and became more famous, but I’ll vote that these fellows are just as talented. They sounded great and had that wonderful quality of making the audience feel like they were enjoying performing as much as the audience was enjoying the show.

The Ronstadt family came from Mexico and has been making music for many generations. There was a nice blend of south of the border music, some great accapellos and some fine instrumentations. I really like the cello, and have never seen one played quite as versatile or expertly as the young fellow did. The crowd loved the show – and appreciated the musicians coming so far and performing so well.

I returned to the castle, feeling great. Wished I had some feet to tap - this was some good foot tapping music. Also wished my horse, Ikey Dee had been there. He sure was a music lover. Guess that is one reason he loved this island bout as much as I did and still do!
