Love on Ocracoke

Again, LOVE is in the air here on Ocracoke.

Getting a little quieter around the island…..course at the end of November that is to be expected. The weather has been beautiful. Had a couple staying at the Castle that is expecting twins. Said they knew after the babies arrived, they wouldn’t get a chance to get away for a while. A trip for two just wasn’t in the near future. They found the Castle on this internet thingy and were more pleased than they expected to be. They loved the quaintness of the Inn, and of course the large delicious breakfast. Another couple just got engaged at the Castle. They were so cute! Ahh! Young and in love. Promised to come back soon – maybe even for their wedding.

It is so much fun to listen and observe the guests. They always seem to be having a good time and really seem to love the place. Some have never been to Ocracoke before; others have been coming for years. Breakfast is the time they visit and get to know each other. Either around the table in the kitchen, or the formal dinning room. It seems conversation is always part of the experience. I just loved one couple that played king and queen, sitting at each end of the large dinning table.

Another great place to hang out here is the widows walk – so they call it. It is a beautiful area on top with the most incredible view. The harbor or Silver Lake as it is now called is beautiful, especially this time of year. You can also see the lighthouse, the ocean and the sound. I perch up there often and just enjoy. Come join me sometime.
