Hello all. Sam here. Yes I know it has been awhile. I got a wild hair and went off island for a bit, which turned out longer than I meant. So I am back and happy to be here. March is a wonderful time on Ocracoke. The island is waking up from its winter slow time. However, wasn’t so slow this year. It snowed, whales sited from the beach, lots of good music, a fine valentines party here at the Castle, a sock hop at the Community Center…..lots happening. But seems like everyone is happy spring is coming.
March winds are blowin’ today. Few days before, calm as could be. The winds were forecast to be 13-20 mph – but there were some strong gust. Had a nice time on the beach – but almost was blown away. The water is choppy. Felt great and was wonderful as always to see and smell the beach. But felt even better to return to the Castle where it is nice and warm and the afternoon coffee was brewing.
The Castle is open for the season. Check your calendar and book your room. You’ll be happy you did.
