Let the blooms begin
This may be a bit of old news here on Ocracoke but it says it all for a loving community.
Ocracoke School had their annual plant sale the other day. This is one of the many fund raisers the school holds and it looked like it was quite a success. Folks were provided a list and could pre-order. There were also many “extras” that were available for same day purchase. There was quite a selection of vegetables, flowers, and herbs. And, the plants looked really healthy; always a plus.
The day of the sale was a teacher workday so the school kids had the day off. But there were so many volunteering at the sale that no one had to worry about carrying anything. Another fine example of what a great community Ocracoke is. Where else would you find kids of all ages helping at a fundraiser on a school holiday? And, just as I’ve always seen, the kids were so polite. They thanked everyone as they loaded up the cars and trucks. What a treat to hear.
Soon the island will be busting with blooms, veggies and herbs. Can’t wait. Come on over and enjoy.

Sure can't wait to see all the blooms. So nice to hear about the school kids, especially when so many places are taken over with gangs, etc. Looking forward to a visit to the island and especially a stay at the Castle. Love your blog.
